Arrive day prior on May 16 in Gig Harbor in time for our mandatory Safety Orientation Meeting at 6:30PM. Option to stay on Koru the evening of May 16 is available (ask!) or(encouraged) stay at a local hotel - ask for recommendations.
Depart noon on May 27. We will likely (but not guaranteed) be in Port Hardy the night of May 26.
Beginning with an evening in Victoria on May 16, we enjoy a busy harbor before setting out to some very isolated anchorages in the Gulf Islands. We expect strong Sailing in the Straight of Georgia as we approach the inlet towards Princess Louisa and Chatterbox Falls. Here currents are tricky and we will have to time or arrival very carefully.
From Princess Louisa Inlet we will consider many anchorages approaching Campbell River and then “shooting the rapids” at Surge Narrows before approaching Octopus Islands, a local favorite destination with a hike to a freshwater lake with swimming available.
Throughout the journey, we will participate in several first-nation events and community displays as schedule allows.
We navigate Jonston Straight and expect to see humpback whales regularly as we approach Port McNiel and Port Hardy where we are likely to experience our first Sea Otter Rafts!
